The situation being endured by our OFWs is heartbreaking. While politicians bicker about money, two women die, one surely because she needed to escape not only a dangerous country but despicable employers as well. And what does Gloria do? She makes plans to produce "supermaids" to send abroad. As Conrad de Quiros mentioned to Billy Esposo, the problem with Gloria isn't her liver, it's her gall.
Here's a heads up on Cha Cha - rumors are rife that next week, Singaw ng Bayad goes full throttle. We've heard that new ads are coming out, this time with celebs like Pacquiao endorsing Cha Cha. Not too surprising, since he already announced this morning that he's running for Vice Mayor of Manila. Great.
As for the Impeachment, the first meeting of the Justic Committee is on Tuesday, 8 August, in the Andaya Hall of the Batasan, 1pm. Several actions are planned for the day, please check this blog for a schedule. We hope to offer you several activities you may find worthwhile. Perfumed and botoxed Powder Blue Ladies need not apply.
Meanwhile, we ask anyone who would like to help us to please write their Congressman. Especially if that Congressman is anti-Impeachment. All it takes is love of country, follow through and around Php7 for a stamp Here's an example of a letter, feel free to cut and paste:

We also believe that your vote in favor of Impeachment will help restore trust and belief in the House of Representatives as well as disavow us of the idea that our Congressmen have turned a deaf ear to us.

Today, even as the House minority files a new impeachment complaint, I hope and pray that you will remain steadfast in our common resolve to oust a corrupt and illegitimate president.
Regardless of the outcome, we shall have achieved a historic moral victory in refusing to compromise our integrity and the well-being of the nation.

anybody who still supports arroyo and her cha cha diversion should not be supported and not be voted into office.
well, at least he's not running for mayor or any higher position, no? sino kayang tatakbong mayor sa ticket ng adminstration? si ali atienza, yung anak ni lito? o si mark jimenez?

so this is where she is leading the country towards. ang hirap na kasi mag start ng business dito dahil sa taas ng buwis, kuryente at iba pang expenses. kaya maraming nale-layoff at maraming factories ang nagsaraduhan sa pinas.
ang businesses na kumimita lang ngayon sa aking palagay ay yung pagbebenta ng cell phone cards at pirated dvds, LOL.
since most filipinos couldn't find a job here, sa ibang bansa na lang sila naghanap.
(at kahit na marami raw na job opening sa call centers, many OFWs continue to leave the country in droves. why is that? because many of them are not qualified (ie not fluent in english) to hold those kinds of low level jobs. yung mga usually na natatanggap lang na applicants ay yung mga magagaling na inglisera sa mga top universities like ateneo, la salle, UP etc.)
it is one the weakness of her admin, IMO. AND it should be a major campaign issue in 2007 against her allies.
arroyo's strategy is to let filipinos find work abroad. our strategy (and the opposition's) should be to help create jobs here instead, para hindi na umalis pa ng ibang bansa ang kababayan natin para lang maghanap ng trabaho.
kasi, if the main thrust of one's "economic strategy" is to make the philippines unlivable for pinoys (because of high cost of living) and make it hard for them to find work, so that many filipinos are forced to work abroad (and then calling them "new heroes" whenever they send their remittances back home)-- you better make damn sure you got their backs covered kapag inaabuso sila o nasa panganib ang buhay nila.
unfortunately, the arroyo admin has been proven to be incompetent in looking after the welfare of the OFWs.
the arroyo admin's slow and scandalous handling of our OFWs needs in lebanon and their evacuation is just the latest and most glaring example of that.
the (mis)handling of the OFWs in lebanon and the administration's inability to deliver/create jobs here should be an issue, IMO.

but apparently, the CBCP (mondejar, capalla, arguelles, quevedo et al) doesn't agree with that statement.
Enteng likes to say that the CBCP is as divided as the rest of the country, and he's right. But what makes them a glaring metaphor is that these guys are supposed to be moral shepherds, not apologists for someone as evil as Gloria.
The bishops you mention are the ones who allegedly admitted that she cheated, but so what? Doesn't everybody cheat? How morally decrepit can these dorks be?

That stupid-Quezon-sentence ""I prefer a country run like hell by Filipinos to a country run like heaven by Americans" really got us in trouble. Of course, what the old-man-Quezon meant was "I prefer a country run by your truly...", which is what he got. What he implanted in the brains of Filipinos is that it is okay to have a country run like hell, as long as it is by Filipino. Which is what the country got, over and over again.
What the Filipino should say is "I want... I deserve a country run like heaven".
Unfortunately, what they still teach in school is that very slick propaganda-line from the old-man-Quezon, and what the Filipino gets is a country run like hell, over and over again.
