True Lies

My Fellow e-Mandirigma,

They must really think we’re all morons!

When they could no longer deny nor explain the money received by Among Ed Panlilio and Bulacan Gov. Mendoza, the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP) owned up to the money claiming that the disbursement to neophyte governors was part of their “capability building project”. And this came out on the very same day the LPP published full page ads in ALL major dailies declaring unequivocally that no cash exchanged hands during the meeting of Governors and Mayors in Malacanan.

There was one problem – that story could not explain the amounts received by Abante and one other Congressman.

So, the other day, they came out with a parallel storyline. This time, House Deputy Speaker “Girlie” Villarosa, speaking as Secretary of Kampi – the President’s very own political party, owned up to the cash given to Abante and the other Congressman. Of course, she had to qualify that the “President had no knowledge of this, and that Puno – as Party Chair, knew of the funds but not the details of its disbursement.” Puno, on his part, feigned being hurt for being put “out of the loop” of such an important transaction.

I was listening to Anthony Taberna interviewing Villarosa and I was both amused and appalled at her gall in peddling such incredulous lies. She was fumbling all over and could not even answer basic questions like who selects the recipients, who authorized disbursement, etc. They forgot to tell her it takes professionals like Bunye and Puno to lie with a straight face and without mumbling words.

The text-in reactions said it all. To Villarosa, one texter said, “More practice!” and to Puno, another texter said, “Fire your scriptwriter.” But the real clincher was Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Sergio Apostol’s reaction. He was visibly irked at the contradicting statements coming out of the Palace and its allies. His advice: “Just shut up!”

My own advice is for them to first agree on which lies they would like as to believe as true, before speaking up.

Tama na! Sobra na! Ginagago na talaga tayo!

If you feel this way, too – I invite you to do something about it:

1. Visit PinoyBigBriber and cast your vote to evict the lone housemate – Ate Glo.

2. If you’re from Metro Manila, join us tomorrow (Nov. 9) for our Black Friday protest action.

  • Wear black
  • Be at the Ninoy Aquino Statue on Ayala Avenue, Makati, by 11:30 AM
  • We’ll give you a Pinoy Big Briber postcard you can personalize
  • We’ll march towards the Makati Central Post Office at Buendia to buy stamps and mail the postcards

3. If you’re outside of the country or you can’t join us this Friday, you can do the following:

  • Download and print the Pinoy Big Briber postcard or greeting card from the same website
  • Snail mail it to: Ms Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Malacanang Palace, San Miguel, Manila, Philippines
  • Before you mail, take a photo of yourself holding the postcard (don’t forget to wear black) and email photo to enteng@BlackNWhite-Movement.com so we can catalog all who participated in this International Day of Protest

4. Wherever you may be, just wear black going to your office or school. It’s the least we can do to show our disgust over the panggagagong ginagawa sa atin!

Please post to all e-groups you are subscribed to, and pass on to your friends and relatives. Together, we may yet rise from this morally bankrupt government.

God bless,

Enteng

* What do you want your young apos to read about you in their history books?

* Who do you want to succeed you?

* Is the presidency worth it?

Congratulations! Great campaign! Great rally!

Finally, a new type of demo. A refreshing change from the tired old cliched demos favored by Joma Sison's followers.

Welcome to the 21st century where creativity reigns supreme!

Great questions, Equalizer!

Boom, we had a gas! Thanks, actions like these spring from great brainstorming, am thankful we're surrounded by great brains with heart.

Protest doesn't have to be dour and sour, as M says. Lighthearted as it may have been, I think we hit the witch with a good stab. We're waiting for word and pictures from our affiliates from the provinces and abroad. Will post an update early nest week. Cheers!

Gloria's Parallel Universe

* On Hunger: “Kasi iyun naman ang question ng hunger, do you miss one meal during the last three months? Pati naman ako, I’ve missed one meal in the last three months,” Gloria Arroyo said in an interview after a roundtable discussion on education and social services.

* On Human Rights:"The Philippines is the most democratic country in the region. We have championed that human rights be included in our ASEAN charter. We have no tolerance for human rights violations of any kind."

* On Extra-judicial Killings:"We deplore any and all killings of political activist and journalist. I have met personally with the journalism community and the same with the human rights activist, we share their outrage."

* On the Philippine Justice System: "We live by the rule of law. We abide by what the courts of the land decide. We must be a government that honors contracts and agreements that go through the required processes despite media attacks. And we must be a government that abides by what the courts of the land decide on matters of dispute."

* On Electoral Reforms:" We can disagree on political goals but never on the conduct of democratic elections. I ask Congress to fund poll watchdogs. And to enact a stronger law against election- related violence".

* On the Economy:"We have reached a new level of maturity and stability with some of the strongest macroeconomic fundamentals in 20 years. And I’m glad to see the rate of poverty is down, the rate of poverty is down, general poverty as well as what we have seen, extreme poverty. "

Catch Us If You Can
(by the Palace Gang 5)

Here they come again, mmmm-mm-mm
Catch us if you can, mmmm-mm-mm
Time to get a move on, mmmm-mm-mm
We will yell with all of our might

* “As far as the Palace is concerned, with this impeachment issue settled, at least at the committee level, we can now move on and tackle other issues that really matter to the people,” Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio R. Bunye told members of the media this afternoon in Malacanang.(Press Briefing 11/15)

Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can

* According to the President, the preoccupation with politics does not contribute to stability, policy continuity, security and peace and order that the country needs to move forward. “Indeed, it’s time for a new beginning and when we talk about a new beginning we talk about moving on," she said.(KBP meeting 11/15)

Now we gotta run, mmmm-mm-mm
No more time for fun, mmmm-mm-mm
When you’re getting angry, mmmm-mm-mm
We will yell with all of our might

* “Too much preoccupation with politics does not promote stability, continuity, security and order that we need to move Team Philippines forward,” Bunye said.

Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Catch us if you can
Yeahhhhh

“The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.” Thanksgiving Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday to give thanks to God at the conclusion of the harvest season. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States and on the second Monday of October in Canada.

Ironically, Marcos proclaimed September 21 as the national thanksgiving day to conceal the repressive character of the New Society.

For obvious reasons, I prefer to celebrate Thanksgiving day today rather than on Sept.21.

Here are my five graces for Thanksgiving Day, 2007:

* I am grateful and give thanks for being alive and in good health this year and for the wonderful recovery of my son from a major health crisis. Thank you God.

* I am grateful and give thanks for the Filipino people being mature in their Faith in spite of the natural disasters and man-made litany of crisis that regularly afflict our nation. Thank you God.

* I am grateful for the strong survival instincts of our people in relying on their own skills and depending less on the government. Thank you God.

* I am grateful for all the country’s heroes who unselfishly gave up their lives for our country and continue to serve as our inspiration in this dark moment of our history. Thank you God.

* I am grateful and give thanks for the honor and privilege of having all of you to write and share this message with on Thanksgiving, 2007. Thank you God.

Following the tradition of TIME magazine, who in your humble opinion, deserves to be the "Pinoy of the Year " honor for 2007(the Pinoy who for better or worse, has influenced events in the Philippines in 2007)? Vote in the new poll in my blog.

Alam nyo paulit ulit na lang yang kwento ng buhay natin. Sino o anung grupo ba talaga ang nagpapalakad ng politika at ekonomiya ng ating bansa. My Opinion ako dito.
