PUT THE LITTLE GIRL TO SLEEP – A FANTASTIC FABRICATION

The latest fabrication from the camp of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is an alleged assassination plot called “Put the Little Girl to Sleep.” Her spokesperson, Elena Bautista-Horn, infers her boss will be “put to sleep” by infiltrating St. Luke’s Hospital and poisoning her food or drink. And she avers that the source of this information is none other than an official within the Aquino administration who is purportedly unhappy about its actions against her boss.

Let’s make sure we heard right – GMA is under threat of being silenced by sinister means? It’s true; millions of Filipinos do not bear warm and fuzzy feelings for Mrs. Arroyo. However, it is also true that the same millions want her to defend herself in court against numerous allegations of lying, cheating and stealing perpetrated under her leadership.

Again, let’s make sure we heard right - the information came from a disgruntled official within the Aquino administration? While it may be true that there may be disgruntled officials in the current government, they are probably holdovers from the GMA administration. These officials are most likely the many midnight appointees of Mrs. Arroyo. These midnight appointees are the obstacles, or booby traps, that mine the “daang matuwid.”

“This claim of a plot to assassinate GMA is a bizarre, fantastic fabrication. Contrary to the assertions of the GMA camp, no one wants Mrs. Arroyo dead. We want her alive, healthy and ready to attend her trials so she can defend herself”, says Executive Director Leah Navarro.

She goes on, “Throughout Mrs. Arroyo’s tenure, we saw so many people detained without cause, prevented from exercising their rights; many were black-balled, insulted and harassed. Remember the Baywalk arrest of Dinky Soliman and Enteng Romano. Remember the kidnapping and eventual arrest of Jun Lozada. Remember the warrantless arrests of Risa Hontiveros, Randy David, and Ronald Llamas through the infamous CPR.”

BnW Lead Convener Enteng Romano – “We have been clamoring for the truth from GMA since 2005. We want to know about her involvement in the “Hello, Garci Scandal”, the “Fertilizer Scam”, the “ZTE-NBN Deal,” among so many others. Her administration evaded the truth through PD1017 and EO464. Nothing will be gained from her passing. We agree with DBM Secretary Butch Abad – this is an absurd confabulation, dreamed up by desperate people, eager to escape accountability.”

The Black and White Movement continues to steadfastly support the efforts of our government to bring Mrs. Arroyo to justice. We exhort DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo to spare no expense at keeping Mrs. Arroyo secure and safe from bodily harm, reinforce the PNP assigned to her security.

Clearly, GMA and her allies are acting true to form. Lying is second nature to them.
